Welcome to the first annual Most Unique Pet Name in the 757 Contest from Tidewater Paws & Claws!
Think your pet has the most unforgettable name in Hampton Roads? We want to hear it.
How to Enter
To enter, visit the official contest post on our Facebook page and leave a comment with:
Your pet's name
The story behind the name
An optional photo of your pet
Photos are encouraged but not required.
Limit one entry per pet. Multiple pets may be entered separately.
Eligibility
The contest is open to pet owners residing in the Hampton Roads region, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, York County, James City County, Gloucester, and surrounding communities in the 757.
Pets of all species are welcome to participate.
Entry Period
Entries will be accepted from 7/9/2026 through 8/15/2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
Entries submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Categories
Three winners will be selected:
Overall Winner – Most Unique Pet Name in the 757
Winner receives a $25 pet store gift card.
Funniest Pet Name
Winner receives a $25 pet store gift card.
Best Story Behind the Name
Winner receives a $25 pet store gift card.
Finalists and Voting
Tidewater Paws & Claws will select finalists in each category from all eligible entries.
Finalists will be announced on our Facebook page.
For the Overall Winner category, community voting will determine the winner. Voting will take place on Facebook by liking the comment associated with your favorite finalist.
Funniest Pet Name and Best Story Behind the Name winners will be selected by Tidewater Paws & Claws.
Winner Notification
Winners will be announced on the Tidewater Paws & Claws website and social media channels and may be contacted through Facebook Messenger or by replying to their contest comment.
If a winner cannot be contacted within seven days, an alternate winner may be selected.
Permission to Share Entries
By entering the contest, participants grant Tidewater Paws & Claws permission to publish submitted pet names, stories, and photographs (if provided) in connection with contest promotion, voting, winner announcements, and future editorial coverage related to the contest.
Participants retain ownership of their submitted photographs.
General Rules
Tidewater Paws & Claws reserves the right to remove entries that are inappropriate, offensive, fraudulent, or otherwise violate the spirit of the contest.
Tidewater Paws & Claws reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the contest if circumstances beyond our control make doing so necessary.
